Company History
When and why was Cultrix set up?
Cultrix is the new name for Barratt & Wilders Ltd (B&W). As B&W was celebrating its 5 year anniversary in October 2007 we decided it was time to give the business a makeover with a brand new name and logo; in fact a whole new corporate image.
What’s this new name?
The brief was quite simple:
- a short, generic word that wouldn’t restrict our services
- a single word that had a meaning related to the business
- a word which wasn’t registered as a domain name (www.cultrix.co.uk)
After a few sleepless nights, a lot of thought and many hours of research on Google, we decided on ‘CULTRIX’. This is an old Latin word which has a few meanings but our preferred one is… “someone who tends to or takes care of”. The definition fitted our business perfectly, and stuck to the brief.
What’s Happened to B&W?
Nothing; we are still here and all the phone/fax numbers, emails, websites, bank details are still the same. We just have a new name and logo which enables us to grow and develop. Many of you know that Mr Barratt hasn’t been with the company for the last 3 years and I have lost count of the number of times that people thought we were a firm of solicitors.
We think the new image is fresh and modern and I hope you’ll agree.
