Local lads, Matthew Roberts and Callum Farrell, have successfully completed their Cultrix apprenticeship, securing full-time work with the Barnsley-based IT support company, who in 2014 won Employer of the Year award. Matthew, aged 19, is now an Internet Developer, and Callum, aged 18, is an IT Support Technician in Cultrix’s valued team.

Both were chosen for Cultrix’s apprenticeship scheme after being selected by a local training provider and succeeding in a competitive interview process. Their hardworking attitude and interest in IT made them ideal candidates for the sought after opportunities in this progressive, family-run firm. Callum always wanted to work in technology, while Matthew taught himself programming in his spare time. Of working at Cultrix they say, “Everyone is friendly, upbeat and happy, even when they’re busy. There is never a dull moment at Cultrix.” Shaun Wilders, Managing Director, says, “Our rolling apprenticeship scheme is key to building our helpdesk with enthusiastic young people who understand great customer service. We have trained and recruited some fantastic engineers who are heavily involved in the continued growth and success of the company.” Cultrix has now taken on another two helpdesk apprentices into its scheme to follow in Matthew and Callum’s footsteps.
