How? By furthering the online revolution and getting more people and their businesses, messages and causes, online.
According to a recent article in the news, having access to the internet safeguards human rights, because we can’t have global freedom of speech without it. It’s great to know then that as a cutting-edge digital service provider, constantly pioneering new and better ways to get businesses, their functions and their messaging, online, we are contributing to improving people’s lives!
According to Dr. Merten Reglitz, Lecturer in Global Ethics at the University of Birmingham:
“Internet access is no luxury, but instead a moral human right and everyone should have unmonitored and uncensored access to this global medium - provided free of charge for those unable to afford it.”
He goes on to explain how access to global news, and the communication that the internet enables, protects people’s freedom of speech, and helps them to be better informed and educated about political developments and the potential rules and legislation they are subject to. That without the internet, people do not have ready access to the information about what is going on in the world that affects them, and therefore their level of ‘freedom’ and ability to speak out and influence events and developments, is much reduced.
We don’t want to get into the political implications of this debate too much, but there is an interesting point to be made about how the internet, and what it enables, is perceived in terms of global reach and connectivity. We are constantly amazed by what can be achieved with use of online innovation and are constantly looking for new and wonderful ways to use applications for revolutionising business function.
While we don’t see ourselves as directly furthering the human rights agenda, our ethos is one of ‘online access for everyone’ to whatever degree they need it to connect, to operate and improve their business and working. Does this improve people’s lives? Well, in a way, we guess it does.
